Hiking & Nature Walks in Karuizawa

Nature lovers can enjoy the sights and sounds of nearly 80 species of birds at the Karuizawa National Wild Bird Sanctuary. Tours are conducted by staff at Picchio Wildlife Research Centre, but you are also free to explore the forest on your own. Nighttime also offers activities including a chance to observe the world’s largest species of flying squirrel take flight. For a more relaxing evening, the clear, winter night sky makes for excellent stargazing while hot wine and a sleeping bag keep you warm.
On your way home, you can refresh yourself in the Hoshino Resorts Hot Spring Tombo no Yu which even has an open-air bath.
