Oyaki Making

Two of Nagano’s most typical foods are soba buckwheat noodles and Oyaki, dumplings stuffed with local vegetables. Many households make oyaki for snacks, and Nagano-ites tend to have fond memories of their mother’s recipe. With a little bit of training, visitors to Nagano can try making oyaki themselves. A local little old lady will be on hand to demonstrate the techniques involved, and then using fresh vegetables from nearby fields, even a novices can make real Nagano oyaki. (Japanese only)
